My name is Mark Walters.
I'm a beekeeper here in Duluth.
We went to Concordia College Moorhead.
My wife and I and my new wife.
She also went to Winter Concordia.
But in year eight, there was a fellow that I got to know in the hay whose dad was a commercial beekeeper.
So he, you know, we got to know him.
He loved hunting and fishing and camping all day outdoors, everything like I did.
So he says, well, you know, we're going to be, harvesting honey.
Extracting honey.
Do you want to come home with me?
Well, leaving college to go to someone's home and have good cook meals and all that, that's that's a big, positive kind of thing.
And then, that weekend, they saw that I wasn't intimidated by bees.
Scared by bees.
You know, I kind of know a lot about insects, but my I was interested in this.
So starting starting then, and for two year period of time, I was going to the library, checking out books, bees, bees, bees.
And eventually, no matter how smart or not so smart you are, something starts to stick.
Well, my first year of beekeeping wasn't any monster success story, but like with anything, every year you learn a little more and as long as you don't give up, then, you know, every year it should go a little better.
Which it did.
