Every resident that comes to the sanctuary for the last 25 years we've been in business has a story to tell.
I'm Tammy Thies, I'm the founder and executive director of the Wildcat Sanctuary here in Sandstone, Minnesota.
Today is a really interesting day.
We are doing a one year exam on a rescued Jaguar that came to us about a year ago from a cruelty case.
And today hes getting a wellness check.
He's also getting neutered, and we're rechecking some of his health levels.
Louis is a pretty cool cat.
He.
He's a black jaguar that you can see his rosette patterns.
And Louis had a really hard life before here he was at a roadside zoo in Oregon.
So at a year here, we've seen a big transformation.
We see this really calm, reserved jaguar, which is exactly what we love to see.
We're really, really thankful that Louis turned around and that, you know, he'll hopefully live, you know, decades here at the sanctuary.
(music) We have 160 residents here.
We are at capacity, but we are part of the Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance, where we network with other accredited organizations to try and find placements and network together.
I think people are really surprised to know that no matter what government agency we work with, we do not receive any funding.
And so it is the public that supports us.
It takes I would say, a pride of people to rescue the 160, wild cats we have here.
