This is one of the best times a year to visit Glensheen, and we see so many families make this part of their family tradition.
I'm Dustin Heckman, I'm the director here at Glensheen, and tonight we are showing you candlelight tours here at Glensheen.
This is the home of Chester and Clara Congdon, built between 1905 and 1908.
This year we have a new theme.
It's Joy to the World.
And so we're focusing 12 rooms and 12 trees on the travels of the Congdon family.
So you can learn a little bit about how they like to travel the world and see some of that inspiration they had behind the trees, but also key artifacts that they may have collected while they're on those travels.
So this was their family home.
So you get to experience going through the house and you'll see things.
Everything you see in the house is original.
When the Congdons left the estate to the University of Minnesota Duluth, they walked down.
They left everything in place.
So this is a great place to bring kids.
You might not think that, but it is.
You know, we have naughty elves hidden throughout the house, so it's just fun to watch kids make sure everybody in the group is counting so they get all 25 of them.
Christmas is up at Glensheen through January 4th, so we have tours daily.
We're only closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, so come enjoy that during the daytime.
If you want to come for a nighttime tour.
Candlelight.
Those will start on Black Friday, November 28th and run through December 28th every Friday and Saturday, with a few select Sundays as well built in.
So it's a great opportunity to come see the estate at night and just bask in the magic.
