I am Eagle Clan from the Red Cliff tribe.
And today we are here at our Bayfield Public School district with our Ojibwe Immersion program.
I am one of three teachers in the program, and we are doing a mock manoomin demonstration.
So our Ojibwe Immersion program is a program within our public school district.
Right now we are kindergarten to second grade.
We plan to grow each year.
We started three years ago.
This will be our third year.
And I think that I would like to see a future where language is not only housed in the school district that we're speaking at throughout the community, and that our students can can have conversations in the grocery store, at the gas station and the casino, and that it just embraces them as soon as they walk out the doors as well.
