Out in industry right now for machining, there's a huge need.
How can I get young people, you know, into machining?
It's like hooked on machining.
It's perfect.
Right?
my name is Nate Zobel.
I'm a CNC machining instructor at Lake Superior College, and we're here on the hook machining, 2026 event.
And we're doing a lot of high school.
I invite them in to go fishing and win some prizes.
This is a machine mold.
It's just 60, 61 aluminum.
And what it is, is you draw this as a solid model, and then you basically cut it out of this and machine it with an end mill or a drill bit, and then you machine the other side, put it together, and then you inject the Plasticol, melt it down and you got fish bait.
It all started a couple years back when I had a student at Lake Superior College that wanted a machine mold.
and started making, molds, fish molds and making a business.
At that same time, about two years ago, I was working with East High School student from there.
So then what we were able to do is machine mold there.
I go to high schools, started talking about fishing, you know, my childhood stuff and those same students that were like welding or like, I love fishing too.
And I'm like, sweet.
hooked on machining, right.
I had never designed to lure anything.
And I have never done injection molding before, so, yeah, he taught us a lot about it, It's been pretty good for the most part.
Like learning lots of new stuff.
He walked everyone through on how to do it.
A lot of it is just to have fun, right?
