Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipour next seat up for grabs in the region is in house district 11a which is newly configured following the 2020 census 11a includes all of Carlton County Northern Pine County and five townships in Far Southern St Louis County a new representative will be elected in this District as incumbent Mike Sundin is not running for re-election the Republican candidate in house district 11a is Jeff dotseth of Kettle River hello I'm Jeff Dotson I'm running to be your next state representative for Minnesota house seat 11a which consists of all of Carlton County Northern Pine as well as Southern St Louis County you know I'm a husband I'm a father I'm a grandfather a small business owner and really concerned and care about our community that we live in you know I've served as a town board supervisor for many years as well who's looking to bring some common sense back into our state government the people in our district 11a really need to know once again that their voices are being heard minnesotans are definitely hurting right now in our current economy with the highest inflation rate in decades it's crushing our families right now the state has record Surplus right now of over 10 billion dollars but Democrats have stood in a way of actually meaningful and permanent tax relief that should go back to the people we need Common Sense leadership in Saint Paul they will do the right thing when government has too much money what you do then is you actually give the money back to the people it's your money that you work for if these challenges that have inspired me to run again from Minnesota house seat 11a one of my top priorities once I get down in St Paul will be to help deliver permanent meaningful tax relief starting with eliminating taxes on our social security once and for all our seniors need that money right now more than ever when you look at paying utility bills heating bills and just general cost of living and groceries right now I know about you but I've been to the grocery store and I've seen it double digits in the last few months here they've worked their entire lives to earn that money Minnesota has no right taxing that money Minnesota also needs to get serious about crime the defend defund your police Democrats in St Paul have definitely refused to boost funding for law enforcement that worked their entire lives to commit to our communities they have sought to demonize the entire profession of hard-working individuals creating mistrust between police as well as their communities that they've served I am committed to unlocking some of our amazing opportunities that we have right here in our own region we have Rich reserves and minerals abundant Timbers and skilled laborers unleashing our natural resources would definitely be a boost for our communities our labors and their families this will keep your young people here back at home you know our region is losing workers our children and our grandchildren look for opportunities in Metro areas and other states because they can't find it here at home we can grow our economy and develop good paying jobs family supporting jobs here right in our own region we've got such amazing local talent that we could retain right here with our local schools Etc I'm Jeff Dotson I truly am your common sense candidate and I look forward to your vote on or before November 8th thank you the Democratic candidate in house district 11a is Pete radosevic of Cloquet my name is Pete radosevic and I'm the dfl candidate for house district 11a which encompasses all of Carlton County and a little bit of Pine County and a little bit of St Louis County I live in Cloquet with my wife and three kids I moved to Cloquet in 1999 from the Twin Cities I was born up here in the Northland but I went to college and worked in the Twin Cities for a while and after I got out of law school I was looking around for a good Law Firm to work for and I found one in Cloquet and I thought that I would move to Cloquet lived there for a couple of years get some experience and go back to the Twin Cities well after about a year or so I knew that Cloquet was my home and that's where I belonged and I've been there ever since it's where I raised my family it's where I practice law it's where I started my pizza restaurant Eskimo Pizza pies and it's where I started a newspaper a couple of years ago with some Partners the pine knot news over the time I've been in Carlton County and Cloquet I have been the host of a TV show called Harry's gang and Harry's gang is a political talk show where we have two liberals and two conservatives and I moderate that panel discussion and the beauty of Harry's gang is that the entire panel will discuss the current issues of the day with the political viewpoint but there's no shouting there's no slander there's no talking over each other and the end of the show you'll see that we sort of come to a consensus a little bit and that's what I'm planning to bring to the legislature if elected now I'm a Democrat and I'm running as a Democrat but people in Cloquet and Carlton County know that I'm reasonable willing to compromise and willing to listen that's why I've got the Democrats on my side and they've endorsed me but Independents are supporting my candidacy and even some prominent Republicans have supported my candidacy and believe that I'll be the best person to represent all of Carlton County in the legislature if we look at the political climate today we see that we've got some extremes on both ends we've got the crazies on this end or the crazies on that end and they make the most noise they talk the loudest they bring up the issues and they get the most attention but if you look at the bell curve of people 85 percent of us are right there in the middle what we all want is basically the same things now there's no secret that I lean to the left but it's also no secret that I will buck with the dfl party when it's appropriate for Carlton County the 85 percent of us in the middle all want the same things we want good education for our students we want roads and bridges that work we want fire protection and police protection that does the job and these are the things that I believe in I think that if I'm elected I'll be representing the people of Carleton County in District 11a not the dfl party now in an ordinary election we have a Democrat and they tout their viewpoints who've got a Republican and they tout their viewpoints and you choose between a Democrat and a republican this election is a little different you'll be choosing a person that is committed to represent all the people of Carleton County and to come to compromise and make Solutions not shout slogans it's what I've done for 20 years as an attorney in Carleton County it's what I've done for 20 years on my TV show Harry's gang and if you read my newspaper column in the pine knot news you know my politics and that won't change I think it's time that we bring a moderate back to the legislature someone who's willing to work towards Solutions not shout slogans and I hope that you vote for Pete radastovich for house district 11a if I'm elected I won't let you down I promise
