Plant a little milkweed.
It doesn't have to be a lot.
Every little bit counts.
We are at the Pollinator Marketplace here at Hartley Park.
We have people here who are in our group, Duluth Monarch Buddies, and they have tables with various informational things here.
and our website is Duluth Monarch Buddies.org.
And you can get a lot of information there that tells us about locally what we're doing here.
But in general that tells more about monarchs and habitat needs and that kind of stuff too.
Purpose of the marketplace is to educate.
We wanted people to know more about monarchs.
We want to know what kind of things they can do about it.
And the people who are visiting us here today they're telling me anyway that they're seeing monarchs now again.
So at the end of summer, like in August, the last couple of weeks, they start migrating at the end of the winter, probably March, they start coming back north.
Sometimes it's a little bit close.
Is the milkweed up yet?
If the butterflies get here too soon, they don't have any place to lay those eggs.
If they will help make some more milkweed, create more habitat, and save habitat, they are helping the monarchs so anything they can do.
We're giving away seed free.
There are plant sales here going on.
Any way that we can increase that habitat is exactly what we want to do.
