Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipDiscovery Center as a place of community, where they can come to the museum, but also as a place of recreation My name is Gary Kaunonen, and I'm the education program and recreation manager here at the Minnesota Discovery Center.
We're here today at our Family Discovery Day sled and snowshoe spectacular.
We are highlighting our outdoor recreation in the wintertime.
We are partnering with the Wonder Trek Children's Museum out of Brainerd.
kids are going to come here today, build their own sled, go down the hill, see if the sled works, and then, if not, be able to modify the sled.
My name is Peter Olson.
I'm the museum project director of Wonder Trek Children's Museum.
This is our slide event.
Design your own ride.
So children and their caregivers their parents their grandparents.
Explore our workshop, which is full of found materials.
Build their own sleds.
Test materials for slipperiness, for durability.
They bring them up on the test hill here and give it a run we'd love to partner with the Minnesota Discovery Center.
It's such a great museum and such good friends of ours.
it will just be a wonderful way of getting more people in the community involved in what we're doing with, but also us reaching out with the things that we have to, the community members.
